  1. 1

Look up Hot Player in the Mac App Store

Open the App Store on the Mac, search Hot Player and open the page. Free to download with a trial included; the playlist licence is an in-app purchase that also covers iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

    Install, then launch Hot Player

Press Get, let it finish, then start the app from Launchpad or the Applications folder.

  3. 3

    HotPlayer wants a playlist

First run shows no playlist plus a device ID and the address hotplayer.app/upload. Park that screen — you come back to it.

    Attach the playlist at hotplayer.app/upload

From any browser, load hotplayer.app/upload. Pick Xtream Code as the source, drop in the server URL, username and password from your email, then save.

Safari on that same Mac will do — the upload page is a website, not part of the app.

  5. 5

    Hit Refresh in the app

Head back to Hot Player and press Refresh. It reads the playlist you just attached.

Installing HotPlayer on MacBook / iMac: what is different

  • On a Mac, HotPlayer runs as a desktop application — download it from the Mac App Store or the developer's site, then drag it to Applications.

  • macOS blocks a first launch from an unidentified developer. Right-click the app and choose Open to approve it once, rather than changing your security settings.

  • Apple Silicon and Intel Macs sometimes need different builds. Check which one you have under › About This Mac before downloading HotPlayer.
